Jennifer Hicks, Founder

Picture
Jennifer first knew she was a “houser” as a child growing up in rural South Texas and witnessing housing with dirt floors, no air conditioning and no running water.  This experience was the spark for her life’s work of creating roofs. An 8th generation Texan, Jennifer is familiar with just about every nook and cranny in the state but Austin is her beloved home. Jennifer spent the first 16 years of her career honing her skills at Foundation Communities - the State's premier nonprofit, affordable housing developer -  by leading the development of 14 innovative and high-impact communities that provided 1,559 units of affordable housing.  While at Foundation Communities, Jennifer also helped create and implement the first supportive housing model in Austin and grew the model to 783 units before her departure.

As a developer, Jennifer enjoys working on challenging projects and assisting in solutions that translate to high-impact housing. Jennifer has experience structuring multiple-layered capital stacks and has excellent relationships with quality investors, lenders and local and state housing funders.  Jennifer was honored to be a part of Affordable Housing Finance’s first round of 40 and Under Young Leaders, but her greatest reward is creating places for people to call home.
